San Luis Obispo, CA

Southland Energy today announced it has been awarded a comprehensive energy and infrastructure retrofit project for the City of San Luis Obispo’s water treatment facility.

In partnership with Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), Southland will upgrade aging infrastructure, implement energy upgrades, and install backup generation to improve the facility’s resilience.

Slated for completion in March of 2021, the $11.6 million effort will reduce energy and operational costs, address critical deferred maintenance backlog, and help the City achieve its sustainability goals.

“This project is an excellent example of how a municipality can partner with its serving utility through a public private partnership to improve infrastructure and sustainability,” said Anthony Roner, Vice President, Southland Energy. “Southland is proud to be part of the team and looks forward to working with PG&E and the City of San Luis Obispo to deliver this important project.”
